Pre-event sports massage is given to an athlete in the immediate day/hours leading up to an event to help support the athlete's performance. A pre-event massage lasts 15-20 minutes to insure not overworking the athlete. 

Pre-event sports massage does not count as a warm-up.


Athletes must properly warm up after a pre-event sports massage.

Goals of Pre-Event include:

  • Increase circulation & warm tissues

  • Promote a greater controlled range of motion

  • Decrease pain and stiffness

  • Decrease nervous tension

  • Give athlete sense of focus and enhance well being
